Press Release: New Book Combines Psychedelics with Physical Rehab for Treatment-Resistant Chronic Pain

The new book "Psychedelics, Chronic Pain, & the Posturedelic Hypothesis” begs us to ask the question, “What if psychedelics aren’t just for mental health?”

Author, posture therapist, chronic pain survivor, podcast host, and ordained psilocybin minister Jon Clark has an answer that might surprise you.

Slated for release on all Amazon markets on 4 June 2024 in eBook and print with a wider international release to follow, his book explores combining corrective posture exercises with psychedelics to alter body schema models in the brain, making it possible to manifest breakthrough reductions in pain via rapidly improved form and function. It is from this idea that the word Posturedelic gets its meaning: alignment manifesting.

The press, influencers, and book reviewers can request pre-release digital or print copies, or booking interviews using the email at the bottom of this release. The public can find excerpts from the book posted each Monday in the weeks leading up to release at blog.ChronicPainRewired.com.

Posturedelic Therapy emerged from Clark’s own war against chronic pain and the invention it necessitated. Quoting the author’s prologue: “The situation that eventually spurred the creation of this book was grounded in my personal struggles with chronic pain and suicidal depression — the former I overcame mainly as a result of posture therapy. However, my experiences with psilocybin, the primary active compound found in ‘magic’ mushrooms, were critical to my overall healing.”

Once disabled and confined to a wheelchair as a result of breaking his back as a teenager, Clark’s discovery of a book about posture therapy finally marked the beginning of his journey toward full recovery, but not until 16 years after that skiing accident. Despite initial progress that saw him out of a wheelchair within nine months of finding that book and hiring a therapist, his pain persisted for years.

But one day, an impromptu and desperate experiment with psilocybin and posture therapy led to immediate breakthroughs and rapid progress over the next several months, culminating in his participation in a disc golf tournament and the start of a new career as a posture therapist. He has since helped hundreds of people get out of chronic pain using non-psychedelic posture therapy.

Yet he also encountered cases like his own, where posture therapy alone wasn’t enough. After watching a client lose her battle with chronic pain, he became all but obsessed with learning why adding psychedelics to the mix had helped him so much, and how to safely repeat those kinds of results for other people. The result is Posturedelic Therapy.

Clark graduated with honors from New Mexico State University with degrees in Industrial Engineering and Computer Science. He worked for companies such as Amazon, General Motors, Honeywell, and Attachmate. However, losing his career to severe disability pushed him down a different path. He received his Postural Alignment Specialist certification from The Egoscue Institute in 2021, but plans to train and certify others in Posturedelic Therapy in the future.
